Kang’s Taekwondo Academy has been legally transferred to the original owner and founder Great Grandmaster Kang and Mrs. Kang as of August 1, 2016. Kang’s Taekwondo Academy will operate under the Taekwondo Chang Moo Kwan Canada Headquarters.

Kang’s Taekwondo Academy offers instruction in traditional taekwondo at our many locations in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. We are an educational and family-oriented institute that enables virtually anyone to achieve a strong mind and body enhanced by traditional morals and values.

At Kang’s Taekwondo Academy, we are not only interested in developing the members’ technical taekwondo skills but in the development of each individual as a whole.

History

Kang’s Taekwondo Academy was founded by Great Grandmaster Joo Won Kang in 1976. Great Grandmaster Kang has been practicing taekwondo for over 60 years and has many achievements in his career, including attaining the rank of 9th dan (degree black belt) and coaching at the Olympics. He brings this great experience to his instruction today.

High-Quality Instruction

All our instructors are certified black belts through Kukkiwon and Chang Moo Kwan. They are personally selected not only for their skill and achievements in martial arts, but also for their ability to effectively relate their knowledge and understanding to students of all ages and backgrounds. Our instructors continuously train together to undergo advanced training in all aspects of taekwondo development as well as the latest teaching methods and human development.

Self-Development

As a traditional taekwondo school, Kang’s Taekwondo Academy works to develop students’ minds as well as their bodies. Confidence, discipline, perseverance, and manners are cultivated as part of our training.

Sport

Kang’s Taekwondo Academy holds the Can-Am Games and the Kang’s Inter-Academy Tournament every year. These events provide a friendly atmosphere for our students to test their abilities.

We have developed competitors who have go on to compete and medal at the national and international level, including the Olympics.

Family and Friends

Intense training in taekwondo helps form bonds between students who help and encourage each other. We hold many events throughout the year to develop these relationships.

We have many families who train together and we are open to all ages.
